It is one of Buddhism’s most sacred sites and is said to be 2,600 years old, which enshrines strands of Buddha’s hair and other holy relics. It stands close to 110 meters tall and covered with gold plates and gold leafs and the top of the stupa is encrusted with thousands of diamonds and other gems. It is the most famous site in Yangon for both the locals and tourists alike because of its tranquil aura and rare wonders onsite.
